There was an incredible wave of Jimothy the Unusual Raccoon From Seattle art going around a few weeks ago. I did one too, and shared them everywhere except for here on my blog. So here you go!
In looking at reference photos and other art tributes, nobody seems to have Jimothy look directly at the viewer. I draw faces better when theyâre looking directly at you, so doing it that way actually helped me a lot! There are HUNDREDS of hand drawn furs - I donât use any brush patterns for those and my wrist is still a little sore. I think the tail is kinda wrong but other than that, I'm happy with how this one turned out.
My process included some sketches, photo reference of various Jimothy sightings and then the final line art and colors.
As usual, I drew this in Procreate for iPad and then I created the blocky background, resized everything and prepped the whole thing for print in Photoshop.
Jimothy is a good reminder that being different is what makes us special (even if itâs hard), and I am so grateful to the Jimothys in this world!
Coming Soon: I'm trying to tell stories about my illustrations by writing about them more and even creating some fun, weird videos to share with you all! Iâm currently working on all of that behind the scenes, but youâll be start so see more stuff from me here more frequently.
I hope you enjoy my interpretation of this cute, weird, inspiring raccoon! And may Jimothy live forever. â¤ď¸
